Postdoctoral Scholar - Department of Dermatology, UC Irvine

The Department of Dermatology at the University of California, Irvine anticipates openings for a postdoctoral scholar.

Applications are being sought from recent Ph.D, or M.D./Ph.D. graduates in the Biological Sciences. Interdisciplinary skills and approaches in Genomics, Advanced Imaging, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, and Cell Biology are strongly desired. The incumbent must be comfortable and/or have experience in working with laboratory animals (mice) and an understanding of advanced imaging methods and genomics. This is an ongoing recruitment. Positions are dependent on extramural funding.

Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Ph.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree in the Biological Sciences or equivalent.

Postdoctoral Fellow – Cancer Chemoprevention & Drug Discovery

Position summary

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, Western University of Health Sciences, has an immediate opening of a postdoctoral fellow position ($56,000 starting salary with fringe benefits). This is an excellent opportunity to join an exciting, NIH- and industry-funded research team investigating anticancer activities and molecular mechanisms of natural, synthetic agents, as well as drug delivery systems using preclinical cell culture and rodent models. By defining genetic and environmental factors-mediated signaling pathways, we are aiming to identify key therapeutic targets and novel agents for the prevention of carcinogenesis. We are seeking a creative and hardworking scientist to pursue collaborative research within the laboratory of Ying Huang, M.D., Ph.D.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent in biomedical or pharmaceutical sciences
  • 1-2 years of experience in drug formulation/delivery
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Skills of tissue culture, molecular cloning, gene expression and knockout, immunohistochemistry and rodent tumor model experience
  • Drug formulation/delivery
  • Multi parameter flow cytometry, sample preparation and data acquisition.
  • Data analysis skills
  • Ability to design and execute laboratory experiments, critically interpret experimental results, and present data in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to participate in the preparation of grant applications and publications.
  • A strong interest in cancer drug development and research
